| History |
The American Institute of Chemists was founded in 1923 as an Economic Organization of Chemists. Over time, as other chemical industry trade associations took shape, the A.I.C. concentrated its energies more on questions of ethics, professional conduct and accreditation. |
| Summary |
The first portion of the collection consists mainly of correspondence files labelled as either Special or General by the A.I.C. These files over an overview of the growth of the Institute from its founding in 1923 through to 1989. Remaining series are devoted to Minutes and Reports, Awards, Printed Matter, Scrapbooks and fairly comprehensive Administrative Records covering the years 1989-2001. |
